Nutrition Program/Tender Care Rates*/ Program Schedule
At Tender Care, we participate in a federal nutrition program. The program has guidelines on serving healthy meals and snacks. The meals must meet the nutrition requirements established by USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program. A monitor comes out unannounced to check up on a meal or snack we are serving. We meet and go beyond the nutrition requirements!
Since we are in a Nutrition Program and don't have the "over head" some other programs may have, we feel that our rates are reasonable. They are:
(FullTime)-Reserved space of six hours or more for five days a week.
Toddler- $205.00 ( 1 to two year old)
Two year Old-$185.00
We supply G-Diapers,( they are eco-Friendly), Parents supply their own "go home," diaper.
We supply healthy meals and snacks, toothbrush, toothpaste, and sunblock.
*For information on part time rates please contact Us.
* Rates may change at any time.
Our Daily Schedule : (Opened 7:15a.m. to 5:00)
7:45 breakfast ( sample) Hot cereal, banana, chicken apple sausage, and organic milk.
8:30-9:00 Early math & Literacy for pre-school. (We set up age appropriate activities).
We set up other enrichment activities for younger children.
9:00-9-15 Music and Movement.
9:15-9:45 Outside time
9:45 snack time (sample) Yogurt and Peaches. ( The peaches could come from our tree).
10:00 after snack the children put any leftover food in the food scrap's container and bring in their dish. (Sometimes we may have a "picnic snack at the Community Garden).
10:00 to 11:45 Outside or inside. They can visit our front and backyard gardens. Many are interested in looking for "bugs" or watching the humming birds. We may set up a water play activity and it could extend in the sandbox. They may go in the outside Art/sensory area for painting, gluing , do an experiment, help set up a new worm bed etc.
Lunch: 11:45 Before lunch, two children set the table together. We give the older pre-schoolers extra plates and cups to figure out how many the need.( meaningful, real life math)When they are done they each get a "special" cup to put by their plate. Then they can "write their name," next to their plate,( younger ones may do their first letter, if they can), and we encourage them to draw a face too.( Yes they can get carried away and want to draw a big face!)
Sample lunch: Black bean soup, brown rice, cantaloupe, broccoli, and organic milk.
We serve our meals/snacks family style. During lunch an Adult usually sits down and role models good table etiquette. We can have good conversations at the table. We may ask,"What is your best part of the day so far?" Or "Who was kind or helpful to you today. ( We encourage children to ask for someone to "pass" a dish they want to themselves).
When they are done eating, they put their leftover food in the food scrap's container, their dish in the dishwasher, and go brush their teeth.
If there is time for them to go outside, they can until we get the games ready. They usually take turns picking a game to play after lunch.
12:30 to 1:00: Play a game. Pre-Schoolers then use the bathroom, and read a book before quiet time.
12:45-3:00 Quiet Time for two's. ( They may sleep longer if needed).
1:00-3:00. Quiet Time for young pre-schoolers.
1:30-3:00. Quiet Time for older pre-schoolers.
3:15 snack time.
3:30 Put on shoes and pick activities to do before going home time.
5:00 Parents pick up by this time or earlier.
As with any schedule, we allow some flexibility. If we take a morning "outing" to the Community Garden the schedule will change. (We do realize the importance of keeping a consistent schedule with young children, like for instance -quiet time, and for meals and snack times.)
